Diabetes Management Program

The Mississippi Rural Health Association, in partnership with the Wal-Mart Foundation, is in the final stages of a grant to promote diabetes awarness throughout the State of Mississippi.  This project, in coordination with the Mississippi State Department of Health, had initial phases of outreach and direct interaction with Mississippi citizens in order to perform pre-screenings for diabetes.  Those that were of the "risk" catagory of pre-screening were directed to a local medical home in order to be tested for diabetes and receive appropriate treatment.

The final phase of this 3-part project will assist with launching a larger project that will help to train clinicians on dealing with diabetes management and recognize the signs and symptoms thereof.
